HEIDENHAIN's New “Connected Machining” Catalog Highlights Digital Networking Solutions for Industry 4.0

Connected Machining deliberately makes control of the machine in the workshop the focal point of digital order management. HEIDENHAIN is therefore consistently pursuing what it already began with its established TNC control.

SCHAUMBURG, IL (December 2017) - As worldwide manufacturing trends towards connectivity and digital networking, HEIDENHAIN CORPORATION continues to meet this need with control solutions and options now summarized in its new "Connected Machining" catalog. Available for download here, this new HEIDENHAIN catalog details solutions that place the TNC operator at the center of digital order management and networked with all production-related areas.

Connected Machining deliberately makes control of the machine in the workshop the focal point of digital order management. HEIDENHAIN is therefore consistently pursuing what it already began with its established TNC control.
Even a simple HEIDENHAIN TNC control system with its standard functions integrated into the company network via Ethernet offers a wide range of options for receiving and using digital job data directly on the control.
Beyond this, the following control solutions and options are now also offered by HEIDENHAIN:
• The StateMonitor software creates transparent processes through data acquisition and data analysis.
• The Remote Desktop Manager (option 133) allows access to PCs and the installed software right at the control
• The HEIDENHAIN DNC interface (option 18) connects the control to enterprise-resource planning and production-activity control systems
• The Extended Workspace display provides clear representation and processing of the job data on the machine
More information is available the Connected Machining catalog downloadhere. All HEIDENHAIN catalogs are available in the Documentation section at www.heidenhain.com.

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

T.J. Davies' Retention Knobs

Our retention knobs are manufactured above international standards or to machine builder specifications. Retention knobs are manufactured utilizing AMS-6274/AISI-8620 alloy steel drawn in the United States. Threads are single-pointed on our lathes while manufacturing all other retention knob features to ensure high concentricity. Our process ensures that our threads are balanced (lead in/lead out at 180 degrees.) Each retention knob is carburized (hardened) to 58-62HRC, and case depth is .020-.030. Core hardness 40HRC. Each retention knob is coated utilizing a hot black oxide coating to military specifications. Our retention knobs are 100% covered in black oxide to prevent rust. All retention knob surfaces (not just mating surfaces) have a precision finish of 32 RMA micro or better: ISO grade 6N. Each retention knob is magnetic particle tested and tested at 2.5 times the pulling force of the drawbar. Certifications are maintained for each step in the manufacturing process for traceability.
